TOUR ITINERARY:
The “Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan Tour Package” begins in Kyrgystan: Your driver will pick you up at Manas International Airport and accompany you to the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, just a 30-minute drive from the airport. In the morning we will visit Ala Archa Gorge. It is a Natural Park. During the Soviet Time, only V.I.P. people had permission to go for a walk there. The Ala Archa Gorge is on a spur of the Tien Shan mountain range. It is just 45 km from Bishkek. You can have a short hiking tour to see a panoramic view of the gorge. Afterwards, we return to Bishkek. The second half of the day is dedicated to a city tour of Bishkek. It includes visiting Pobeda Square (Victory Square), Duboviy Park (Oak Park), Central Ala-Too Square, Old Square, National Philharmonic, and many other places of interest. The night is at the hotel.
Today you will be transferred to Chon Kemin Gorge. EnGorge route to the gorge, you will visit Burana Tower (an 11th-century minaret) and an open-air museum of Balbals (stone warriors). After an interesting excursion and climbing on the top of the tower transfer to Chon Kemin Gorge. In the afternoon we will have 3 hours of horse riding. Your route will go high in the mountains and you will even ride horses through a mountain forest. On the top, you will see the panorama view of the gorge. The night is at the guesthouse.
Today you will be transferred to the celestial Issyk Kul Lake, the second-largest alpine lake in the world (1608 m above sea level). We will see stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.) which were made by shamans. Then we will drive along Grigorievskoe and Semenovskoe gorges! These two picturesque gorges are connected at the end. It means you will start driving in at one gorge and will drive out through the other one! While journeying from one gorge to another you will see yurts and we will stop many times to have a rest and to enjoy Mother Nature. Then we continue our way along the northern shore of the lake to the town of Karakol. You will visit the Dungan mosque. One of its highlights is the fact that it was built in a Chinese style without using a single metal nail. The mosque will be followed by a visit to an old wooden Orthodox Church. The night is at the hotel.
Today we will drive to Jeti Oguz Gorge. It’s famous for its red rock formations that have the name Seven Bulls – Jeti Oguz. Also, you will see there the Broken Heart Mountain. We will take photos there and if you want it is possible to go to the top of a mountain (20 minutes) to see a panoramic view of the gorge. Then you continue your travel. On the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, about 4 km from the village of Tosor there is an unusual place – Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon. Skazka is a wonderful place where the red sand formations, take various fabulous forms. In Bokonbaeva village we will meet a local eagle hunter. He hunts hares and foxes with the help of eagles (the traditional way of nomads hunting). Transfer to Bishkek. The night is at the hotel.
In the morning is a transfer to the airport. In Osh, you will go for a walk to visit the most famous place – Suleiman Mountain. Suleiman Too (Solomon’s Mountain) is situated in the center of the city. It is considered to be a pilgrimage place for local Muslims. According to the legend, the biblical prophet Solomon (Suleiman in the Koran) was buried at the foot of it. There will be a border transfer: You will keep the next day of the “Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan Tour Package” in Uzbekistan! Meet your driver at Uzbekistan side and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Breakfast in the hotel. Meet your driver and guide to start discovering Fergana Valley. Visit, Akhmad Al-Fergani Park in Fergana. Continue to Margilan and visit Said Akhmad-Khoja Madrasah . Today, the madrasah is home to craftsmen producing carpets and silk. Visit the traditional market and continue to Yodgorlik Silk Factory to see the production process of silk with traditional Ikat patterns. If it is Thursday or Sunday, visit Kumtepa Bazaar, the largest market in Fergana Valley. Drive to Rishtan to the house of a well-known ceramic master Rustam Usmanov. Enjoy a pottery workshop and have a look at the ceramic collection in a small museum.
Breakfast in the hotel. Today you will drive to the city of Kokand. Visit the Khudoyar-Khan Palace, Kamol-Kazy Madrasah, Jami Mosque, and Norbut-biy Madrasah. After, continue driving to Tashkent. (320 km. 4-5 h.). The steep road* which connects Fergana Valley with the rest of Uzbekistan runs via the picturesque mountain pass Kamchik (2267 m. above sea level). Arrive in Tashkent in the afternoon. Check-in to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, at 10:00 you start sightseeing in Tashkent capital of Uzbekistan. Visit the old part of the city with the Khasti Imam Complex where the world-famous Koran of Caliph Othman–Ottoman has been preserved. In Khasti-Imam Complex you’ll visit Madrasah Barak Khan, Tilla Sheykh Mosque, and the Mausoleum of Kaffal Shashi. Then visit Madrasah Kukaldash. Take a ride on Tashkent Metro then continue sightseeing to the city center with Independence Place and Museum of Art Applied. Overnight at the hotel.
Early breakfast/pick up lunch boxes. Meet your guide at the lobby of the hotel. Transfer to the domestic airport for the morning flight to Urgench. Arrival in Urgench. Meet your driver and transfer to Khiva (30km. 35 min.).
Spend a day at the UNESCO World Heritage site Itchan-Kala Fortress, a living museum under the open sky. Take a walking sightseeing tour in Khiva: visit Kunya Ark Citadel, Tash-Khovli Palace, Mukhammad Aminkhan Madrasah, Mukhammad Rahimkhan Madrasah, Kalta Minor, Juma Mosque, Pakhlavan Makhmud Mausoleum, Minaret of Islam-Khoja. Free time in the afternoon. Overnight at the hotel.
In the morning depart Khiva and drive to Bukhara (480 km, 7-8 h.). The Great Silk Road once routed through Bukhara and Khiva ran through the Kyzyl Kum Desert, as the present road does nowadays. Stop en route to enjoy views of the Amu Darya River and the desert. Arrive in Bukhara late in the afternoon, and check in to the hotel. Time for rest and overnight at the hotel.
Enjoy a walking sightseeing tour with a guide in Old City. Visit Lyabi-Khauz Ensemble, Magoki-Attori Mosque, Chor-Minor Madrasah, trade domes, Kalyan Minaret, Kalyan Mosque and Miri-Arab Madrasah, Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan madrasahs, Ark Fortress, Bolo-Khauz Mosque, Ismail Samani and Chashma-Ayub mausoleums. Overnight at the hotel.
Start the second day with a visit to Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa – the summer residence of Bukhara’s last emir, a unique site combining Oriental and Russian architecture. Continue to Bakhouddin Naqshbandi Mausoleum and Chor-Bakr Necropolis. At noon depart Bukhara and drive to yurt camp located in Kyzyl Kum desert (230 km, 4 h.). On the way stop in Gijduvan pottery masters workshop and Nurata town to visit a local mosque with holy spring water. In the afternoon continue driving to yurt camp in Kyzyl Kum desert. Stop on Nurata Pass to see petroglyphs. Arrive in Safari Yurt Camp, accommodation in yurt. Camel riding and free time. In the evening dinner near the campfire with Kazakh akin singing folk songs. Overnight in the yurt.
In the morning visit desert Aidarkul Lake Free time on the lake. Tourists can take a camel ride through the desert (8.5 km, 3 h) or a short ride to a nearby village (1.5km 30 min.), fishing and swimming here. In the afternoon depart the yurt camp and drive to Samarkand (300 km. 3-4 h.) Arrive in Samarkand. Hotel check-in. Overnight at the hotel.
Meet your guide and driver at the hotel lobby to start the city tour. Visit Gur-Emir Mausoleum – authentic shrine of Tamerlane, spectacular Registan Square, remains of Bibi Khanum Mosque, Siab Bazaar, Shakhi-Zinda Necropolis, and Ulugbek Observatory. Overnight at the hotel.
Continue sightseeing: visit the Afrasiab Museum and the Tomb of Saint Daniel. Then drive to Konigil village to explore the traditional way of making Samarkand paper from mulberry. Enjoy free time with a car and driver at your disposal after the sightseeing tour. At 16:30 drive to the railway station of Samarkand. The high-speed train “Afrosiyob” leaves for Tashkent at 17:30. Upon arrival, you will be met by a driver and transferred to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
